Ocean Blue Floral Bracelet Free Crochet Pattern

Ocean blue floral crochet bracelet

# Ocean Blue Floral Bracelet Free Crochet Pattern

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I have a whole box of “someday” jewelry projects, and this bracelet jumped straight to the front of the line. There is something about those dimensional ocean-blue roses — deep sea blue, teal, and the softest sage mint — nestled into sage-gray leaves with tiny beads winking through them, that makes this look like it came from a bridal boutique rather than my crochet basket.

It sounds fancy, but I promise the construction is wonderfully straightforward. You’ll crochet a simple double-crochet band, roll up the sweetest little spiral roses, stitch on some leaves, and finish it with a satin ribbon tie. The beading looks intricate but it’s just single crochet with a bead slid into place. Pour yourself some tea and let’s make something beautiful.

What You’ll Need

  • Fingering weight cotton yarn: approximately 15 yards medium blue (Color A), 20 yards teal (Color B), 18 yards sage mint (Color C), 25 yards sage gray-green (Color D), 30 yards steel blue (Color E). Cotton is strongly recommended — the piece needs to hold its sculptural shape, so skip fuzzy or stretchy yarns.
  • US B-1 / 2.25 mm crochet hook (smaller than standard for fingering weight, for a dense, firm fabric)
  • Approximately 80–100 size 11/0 seed beads in silver-lined aqua blue
  • Approximately 20–30 small clear glass beads, 3–4 mm
  • One satin ribbon in mint or pale aqua, 3/8 inch wide, about 36 inches long
  • Yarn needle, sharp hand-sewing needle with matching thread, and a sewing needle with an eye large enough for ribbon
  • Fabric stiffener or starch spray (optional but recommended)
  • Scissors and at least 4 stitch markers

Gauge:

  • 22 single crochet stitches = 2 inches
  • 24 rows of single crochet = 2 inches. Swatch, block, and measure — gauge really matters here so the band fits and the flowers hold their shape

Finished size:

  • Band measures approximately 6.5 inches long (not including the ribbon ties, which add about 5 inches per side) and 1.75 inches tall
  • The decorative floral top extends about 2.25 inches above the band. Fits wrists measuring 6 to 7.5 inches depending on how tightly you tie the ribbon

The Pattern

Special Stitches

Bead single crochet (bsc): Pre-thread beads onto your yarn with a fine wire needle. Insert hook as for a normal sc, yarn over and pull up a loop, slide one bead snug against the right side of the work, yarn over and pull through both loops.

Surface leaf vein: With right side facing, join yarn at the base of a finished leaf and slip stitch up the center to the tip, working under one strand of the center stitches. Fasten off.

Base Band

With Color E, chain 73.

Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th chain from hook (chain-3 counts as first dc) and in each chain across. Turn. (71 dc)

Rows 2–3: Chain 3, dc in each stitch across. Turn. (71 dc)

Row 4: Chain 1, sc in each stitch across. Do not turn; fasten off. Turn. (71 sc)

The band should measure about 6.5 inches wide and 0.75 inch tall.

Bottom Border

With right side facing, join Color D at the bottom left corner (the foundation-chain edge).

**Border

Row 1:** Chain 1, work 71 sc evenly across the foundation edge. Turn. (71 sc)

**Border

Row 2:** Chain 1, sc in the back loop only of each stitch across. Turn. (71 sc)

**Border

Row 3:** Chain 1, sc in each stitch across. Fasten off. (71 sc)

Beaded Upper Edge

Pre-thread about 68 seed beads onto Color D.

With right side facing, join the beaded yarn at the top right corner of the band (the Row 4 edge).

**Bead

Row 1 (worked with wrong side facing so the beads pop on the right side):** Chain 1, bsc in each stitch across the top edge. Turn. (71 bsc — if you run short on beads, placing one every other stitch is fine.)

**Bead

Row 2:** Chain 1, sc in each stitch across. Do not turn; fasten off.

Band height is now about 1.25 inches.

Ribbon Channels

Make two small openings at the front center of the band, about 0.5 inch apart: either stitch two small loops with Color E and a yarn needle, or pierce two tiny holes in the double-crochet rows with a sharp tapestry needle and reinforce the edges with whipstitch. The ribbon threads in through the left hole, across the wrong side, and back out through the right hole.

Large Rose — Color A (make 1)

Chain 41.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and next chain, hdc in next 2 chains, [dc in next 2 chains, tr in next 2 chains, dc in next 2 chains, hdc in next 2 chains, sc in next 2 chains] 3 times, hdc in next chain, dc in next chain, tr in next 2 chains, dc in next chain, hdc in next chain, sc in last chain. (40 sts)

Row 2: Chain 1, turn. Working along the opposite side of the foundation chain, sc in each chain across. Fasten off, leaving a 10-inch tail. (40 sc)

Assembly: With right side facing, start at the tallest (treble) end and roll the strip into a tight spiral, stitching through the base every few wraps with the tail. Stitch securely across the base several times. Finished diameter: about 1.25 inches.

Medium Roses — Color B (make 2)

Chain 31.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and next chain, hdc in next 2 chains, [dc in next 2 chains, tr in next 2 chains, dc in next 2 chains, hdc in next 2 chains, sc in next 2 chains] twice, hdc in next chain, dc in next chain, tr in next chain, sc in last chain. (30 sts)

Row 2: Chain 1, turn. Sc in each chain across the opposite side. Fasten off with a 10-inch tail. (30 sc)

Roll and secure as for the large rose. Finished diameter: about 1 inch.

Small Roses — Color C (make 2)

Chain 21.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and next chain, hdc in next 2 chains, dc in next 2 chains, tr in next 2 chains, dc in next 2 chains, hdc in next 2 chains, sc in next 2 chains, hdc in next chain, dc in next chain, tr in last chain. (20 sts)

Row 2: Chain 1, turn. Sc across the opposite side. Fasten off with a 10-inch tail. (20 sc)

Roll and secure as before. Finished diameter: about 0.75 inch.

You now have 5 roses: 1 large, 2 medium, 2 small.

Leaves — Color D (make 4 large, 4 medium, 4 small)

Large leaf: Chain 12.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain and next chain, hdc in next 2, dc in next 2, hdc in next 2, sc in next chain, 3 sc in last chain (tip); working back along the opposite side: sc in next chain, hdc in next 2, dc in next 2, hdc in next 2, sc in next chain, slip stitch in last chain (base). Do not fasten off.

Row 2: Chain 1; working in back loops only, slip stitch around to the tip, 3 slip stitches in the tip stitch, slip stitch back to the base. Fasten off with a 6-inch tail. Add the surface leaf vein. Finished length: about 1.25 inches.

Medium leaf: Chain 9; work the same shaping (finished length about 1 inch).

Small leaf: Chain 7; work the same shaping (finished length about 0.75 inch).

Final Assembly

If you’re using stiffener, stiffen the band and all motifs first and let them dry completely — shape the leaves flat and cup the roses slightly. Lay the band flat, right side up, and arrange the flowers before sewing: the large rose at center front, a medium rose on each side, and the small roses tucked toward the ends, with leaves fanning out around them. Sew everything down securely with the yarn tails. Scatter the clear glass beads through the arrangement with your hand-sewing needle and thread. Thread the satin ribbon through the channels and tie a bow at the front. Done — try not to stare at your wrist all day.

Sophie’s Tips

  • Cotton is non-negotiable here — acrylic stretches and the roses will go floppy on you within a week.
  • Pre-thread more beads than you think you need; nothing breaks your flow like stopping mid-row to thread beads.
  • A light spritz of starch on the finished bracelet keeps the leaves perky without making it crunchy.

Wear it to something fancy and watch people lose their minds when you say you made it.
