Cherry blossom spring dress

# Cherry Blossom Spring Dress Free Crochet Pattern

Cherry blossom season is pure magic, and I wanted a dress that captures that feeling — soft blush pink, delicate blossom appliqués, and a skirt that floats. This is my love letter to springtime, and every time I wear it I feel like I am walking under blooming trees.

The dress itself is simple and elegant — a fitted bodice and a gently flared skirt — and then you add the cherry blossoms: tiny five-petal flowers scattered like petals caught in a breeze. It is the appliqués that make this dress truly special, and they are so fun to make!

Cherry Blossom Appliqués (make 12–15)

Blossom: With white or light pink, make a magic ring. \*Ch 2, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, sl st in ring; repeat from \* 5 times for 5 petals. Pull ring tight.

Center: With deeper pink, make a magic ring, work 5 sc into ring, join. Sew onto the blossom center.

Sew the blossoms scattered across the bodice and skirt — cluster a few near the neckline like a flowering branch, and let a few drift down the skirt. If you like, embroider a thin brown branch with chain stitch connecting a cluster of blossoms.

Straps

Straps (make 2): Chain 65, sc back down the chain. Sew to the front and back top edges of the bodice.

Work 2 rounds of sc around the neckline for a clean edge. Weave in all ends.

Sophie’s Tips

  • Lay the dress flat and arrange the blossoms before sewing — live with the layout for a bit until it feels like petals in the wind.
  • Use the deeper pink for just the flower centers; it makes the white petals pop beautifully.
  • A light blocking of the skirt makes the picot edging sit perfectly.

May your spring be as lovely as cherry blossoms — enjoy every stitch!
