# Cream and Blush Ombre Poncho Free Crochet Pattern
There’s something about a slow color fade that makes a simple stitch pattern look absolutely luxurious. This poncho drifts from soft cream at the neckline down through barely-there blush into a rosy pink at the points, and the whole thing is just double crochet — no fancy stitches, no complicated shaping. The ombre does all the talking.
It’s made from two rectangles joined at an angle (the classic poncho construction), so there’s no picking up stitches or working in the round. If you’ve ever wanted to make a wearable that looks like a boutique find but works up like a blanket, this is it.

What You’ll Need
- Worsted weight yarn with a gentle ombre or plan your own fade: approx. 1,200 yards total — about 400 yards cream, 400 yards light blush, 400 yards rosy pink (or one self-striping ombre cake)
- 5.5 mm (I/9) hook
- Yarn needle, scissors
Finished size:
- Approx. 38 inches from neckline to point, 30 inches wide across the shoulders. Fits most adults (M-XL range)
- Lengthen the rectangles for more coverage
The Pattern
Panels (make 2)
Each panel is a long rectangle worked lengthwise in rows. The color fade runs along the length: cream at one end, blush in the middle, pink at the other.

Foundation: With cream, ch 130. (For a longer poncho, add or subtract chains in multiples of 2.)
Rows 1-14 (cream): Dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as first dc) and each ch across. Turn. (128 dc) Repeat for 14 rows total.
Rows 15-28 (light blush): Change to blush. Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each st across. Turn. (128 dc each row)
Rows 29-42 (rosy pink): Change to rosy pink. Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn. (128 dc each row)
Fasten off. Your rectangle should measure about 30 inches wide x 42 inches long. Make a second identical panel.
Checkpoint: To keep the fade smooth, work the last 2 rows of each color section alternating colors every 2 rows (a simple two-row stripe) — it blends the transition beautifully.
Joining
Lay the panels flat. Take Panel A and fold it so one short end meets the midpoint of one long edge of Panel B — this creates the classic poncho angle. Seam along that join with a whipstitch or slip-stitch seam, then flip and seam the matching edge on the other side. Try it on: the head opening should be about 24 inches around — comfortable, not tight.
Neckline
Join cream at the neckline.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the neck opening (about 1 sc per row end). Join.
Rounds 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join. (3 rounds of single crochet) Fasten off.
Bottom Edging
With rosy pink, join at any bottom point.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire bottom edge, working 3 sc in each of the two bottom points. Join.
Round 2 (scallops): *Skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sl st in next st* around. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends and give it a light steam to relax the stitches. The drape on this is dreamy.
Sophie’s Tips
- A self-striping ombre cake makes this project nearly effortless — just start at the light end of the cake for the neckline.
- Block both rectangles before joining so your seams lie flat and the points match up.
- Want sleeves? Skip the last 6 inches of each side seam — instant arm openings with a relaxed boho fit.
Wrap yourself in that soft blush fade and enjoy — this one’s pure comfort!
