# Sage Green Sherpa Trim Crochet Cardigan Free Crochet Pattern

Okay, I have a confession: I made this cardigan for “fall,” and then proceeded to wear it every single day for three months straight. There’s something about that soft sage green paired with the fluffy cream sherpa-style trim that just feels like a warm hug. It looks like the expensive boutique cardigans, but it’s just double crochet and a fuzzy yarn trim — I promise!

The body is wonderfully simple rectangles (no shaping to stress over), and then the magic happens: three rounds of fluffy trim around the fronts, neckline, cuffs, and hem transform the whole thing. It drapes beautifully and goes with literally everything in my closet.

Sherpa Trim

With cream fuzzy yarn:

Front and neck trim: Join at the bottom of the right front edge, ch 1, and SC evenly up the front edge, around the neckline, and down the left front edge. Work 3 rounds total, working 3 SC in the neck corners to keep it flat. Fasten off.

Cuff trim: Join at any sleeve cuff, ch 1, SC evenly around (about 40 sts), join. Work 2 rounds total. Fasten off. Repeat on second sleeve.

Hem trim: Join at a side seam of the bottom edge, ch 1, SC evenly around (about 140 sts), join. Work 3 rounds total. Fasten off.

Weave in all ends (the fuzzy yarn ends can just be woven a short distance — they grip beautifully).

Sophie’s Tips

  • If you’ve never worked with fuzzy yarn, relax — for trim rounds, you crochet mostly by feel, and the fluff hides every imperfection. It’s the most forgiving yarn ever.
  • Want it longer? Just add rows to all three body panels before seaming — the trim rounds will still work the same.
  • This cardigan in charcoal gray with white trim looks incredibly chic too.

Wrap yourself up and enjoy every cozy minute!
