# Free Crochet Snowflake Christmas Wreath Pattern

For a quick wreath that looks stunning on your entrance all winter long, nothing beats snowflakes. I crocheted a whole flurry of them — some big, some small — and attached them to a simple ring, and the result is pure winter magic. It looks delicate and intricate, but every snowflake takes about ten minutes.
Here’s a fun twist: you don’t have to stick with white! I made one all-white version for a snowy look and another mixing in red and green snowflakes for a more festive feel. Both are gorgeous. Make a big batch, put on some music, and enjoy the flurry.
What You’ll Need
- Worsted weight (#4) yarn in white (about 100 yards), plus small amounts of red and green if you want the festive mix
- Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook
- 10-inch wire or foam wreath form
- Tapestry needle
- Fabric stiffener (optional, but recommended)
- Ribbon for a hanging loop
Finished size: Approximately 13 inches across.
The Pattern
The Snowy Base
With white yarn, chain 110 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring, being careful not to twist.
Rounds 1-4: SC in each stitch around (110 SC). Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Slip the tube over your wreath form and whipstitch the long edges together around the back.
Large Snowflake (make 5)
Chain 5, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1, \*SC into the ring, chain 5\* six times, join with a slip stitch to the first SC. (6 chain-5 loops)
Round 2: Slip stitch into the first chain-5 loop; \*(SC, HDC, 3 DC, HDC, SC) into the loop, slip stitch into the next SC between loops\* six times. Join and fasten off.
Round 3 (points): Join yarn in any DC cluster; \*chain 6, slip stitch in the 2nd chain from the hook, SC in the next chain, HDC in the next, DC in the next 2, skip to the next cluster\* six times. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Small Snowflake (make 10)
Chain 4, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1, \*SC into the ring, chain 4\* six times, join to the first SC. (6 chain-4 loops)
Round 2: Slip stitch into the first loop; \*(SC, HDC, 2 DC, HDC, SC) into the loop, slip stitch into the next SC\* six times. Join and fasten off.

Assembly
If you want crisp snowflakes, soak them in fabric stiffener and pin them out to dry first — it makes a huge difference! Then arrange the 5 large snowflakes evenly around the ring and sew them on. Fill the gaps with the 10 small snowflakes, overlapping some for a layered, blizzard-y effect. I mixed white, red, and green on my festive version. Add a ribbon loop and hang it where the winter light can hit it.

Sophie’s Tips
- Stiffen the snowflakes before attaching — floppy snowflakes won’t give you that crisp winter look.
- Weave in ends as you finish each snowflake; doing 15 at the end is nobody’s idea of fun.
- Leftover snowflakes make beautiful gift toppers — tie one onto every present!
Quick to make, beautiful all winter — this one’s a keeper.
