# Sunset Orange Butterfly Bag Free Crochet Pattern
Golden hour, as a bag. This sunset orange shoulder bag has butterfly wing shaped sides that give it the prettiest silhouette — it slouches just right and the color glows in evening light. I carried mine to a rooftop dinner and spent half the evening answering “where did you get that bag?”
Two shaped panels, a slim strap, and a simple flap. The wing shaping is just increases and decreases, and I’ll walk you through every row.

Sunset orange in a soft acrylic — warm, rich, and it goes with every neutral in my closet. The strap is a sturdy cord that sits comfortably on the shoulder.

Assembly
Hold the panels together and slip stitch the bottom and sides, leaving the top 3.5 inches open on each side. Turn right-side out.
Flap: Join yarn at the back top edge. Work 9 rows of SC across 24 stitches, decreasing 1 at each edge every other row (20 SC after Row 9). Button loop: Ch 8, slip stitch to the flap. Fasten off. Sew the button to the front to meet the loop.
Top edging: Join yarn and work 1 round of SC around the top opening. Fasten off.
Strap
Ch 160. Slip stitch back across for a sturdy cord. Fasten off with long tails and sew each end to the inside top corners.
Weave in all ends.
Sophie’s Tips
- Block the wing panels before assembly — crisp edges make the butterfly shape pop.
- The flap should overlap the front by at least 2 inches or it gapes.
- This bag in deep teal is stunning too — the wing shape loves rich colors.
