# Bumble Bee Baby Dress Free Crochet Pattern
Buzz buzz! This sunny yellow baby dress with the sweetest bumble bee appliqués is guaranteed to steal the show at any gathering. The dress itself is a simple top-down design with a scalloped hem, and the bees are little ovals with stripes and wings — I dare you to make just one. (You won’t. You’ll make six.)
I designed it for a garden-party-themed first birthday, and the birthday girl spent the whole party being admired by every single guest. The bees did their job.

Soft yellow cotton for the dress, because babies, and the bees are quick stash-busters in black, yellow, and white.
What You’ll Need
- DK-weight soft cotton yarn in sunshine yellow (approx. 350 yards)
- Small amounts of black, yellow, and white yarn for the bees
- Size G-6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- 2 small buttons
Finished size:
- 6–12 months: chest 18 inches, length 12 inches

Bumble Bees (make 5–6)

Round 2: SC in each stitch around, join. Fasten off yellow.
With black, surface-slip-stitch 2 stripes across the body. With white, work two tiny wings: Ch 4, slip stitch back, and sew on top. Embroider a tiny smile if you like.
Sew the bees scattered over the skirt. Weave in all ends.
Sophie’s Tips
- Count carefully on the increase row — the repeat is *DC in 12, 2 DC in the next*, four times, for 56 stitches total.
- Surface slip stitches for the bee stripes are faster than carrying black yarn.
- Sew bees on through the body only, not through wings — the wings should flutter.
Buzzing with happiness — this dress is pure sunshine!
