# Sunset Ombre Granny Square Tote Free Crochet Pattern
A whole sunset in granny squares! This tote fades from deep coral through golden peach to the softest cream, one granny square at a time. The ombre layout does all the work — each square is simple, and arranging them in gradient order creates pure magic. It’s the tote I carry when I want to feel like golden hour.
Thirteen squares joined in a simple layout, with a sturdy strap. The kind of project that’s perfect for using up a gradient yarn cake or planning your colors deliberately.

Each square should measure about 4.5 inches.
Assembly (ombre layout)
Arrange the squares in a 3-wide by 4-tall grid (plus 1 for the base), ordered from darkest (coral) at the top to lightest (cream) at the bottom:
–
Row 1 (top): coral, coral, coral
–
Row 2: coral, deep peach, deep peach
–
Row 3: deep peach, light peach, light peach
–
Row 4 (bottom): light peach, cream, cream
- Base: 1 cream square
Whipstitch the squares together. Fold the grid and seam the sides and bottom.
Handles (make 2)
With coral, Ch 8. Work 65 rows of SC across 7 stitches. Fasten off with long tails. Sew to the top edge with reinforced stitching.
Weave in all ends.
Sophie’s Tips
- Lay out all your squares before joining — the gradient is everything.
- Join with the same color as the squares for an invisible seam, or cream for a defined grid.
- Line the tote with fabric if you’ll carry small items.
Golden hour, all day — carry the sunset with you!
