# Strawberry Sundae Beanie Free Crochet Pattern
This hat looks good enough to eat, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Creamy vanilla, strawberry pink, and a cherry-red brim — it’s a strawberry sundae for your head. I wore mine to the farmer’s market last weekend and a little girl pointed at me and told her mom she wanted “the ice cream hat.” Sold.
It’s a classic top-down beanie with simple stripes, so if you can double crochet in the round, you can make this. The ribbed brim keeps it snug, and the big fluffy pompom on top is the cherry, obviously. Non-negotiable.

What You’ll Need
- Worsted weight (#4) yarn in three colors: Cream (about 80 yards), Strawberry Pink (about 90 yards), Cherry Red (about 40 yards)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Pompom maker or a piece of cardboard
Finished size:
- Fits 21–23 inch head circumference
- Hat measures about 9 inches tall (without pompom)
The Pattern
Worked top-down in joined rounds. Change colors as noted; carry the unused color loosely up the inside or fasten off — your call. US crochet terms.

The Cherry on Top

Sophie’s Tips
- Check your gauge after Round 4 — the circle should measure about 4 inches across. Too small? Go up a hook size; too big, go down.
- When changing colors, work the joining slip stitch with the NEW color for a clean stripe line. Little trick, big difference.
- Not a pink person? This stripe sequence is adorable in mint/chocolate (mint chip!) or caramel/cream (butterscotch). The sundae possibilities are endless.
Now go forth and be the cutest sundae at the market!
