# Dusty Rose Bow Handbag Free Crochet Pattern
If the sage bow bag is the calm one, this dusty rose beauty is its romantic sister. A soft, vintage-inspired pink with the same oversized bow treatment — it goes with everything from jeans to a dressy brunch outfit, and it always looks like it cost far more than a few skeins of yarn.
I designed this one as a slightly dressier silhouette: a clean rectangular body with a sweet flap-free top edge and a long crossbody strap, so it works hands-free. The bow sits front and center, exactly where it belongs.

What You’ll Need
- Worsted-weight cotton yarn: approx. 500 yards in Dusty Rose (I used Lily Sugar’n Cream)
- Size H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle and scissors
- Stitch markers
Finished size:
- 9 inches wide × 8 inches tall × 3 inches deep, with a 48-inch crossbody strap
The Pattern
Gauge:
- 13 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches

Front & Back Panels (make 2)
Chain 36.
Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across, chain 3, turn. (34 dc)
Rows 2–18: Dc in each st across, chain 3, turn. (34 dc)
Fasten off.
Side Gusset
Chain 12.
Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across, chain 3, turn. (10 dc)
Rows 2–30: Dc in each st across, chain 3, turn. (10 dc)
Fasten off. This long strip runs down one side, across the bottom, and up the other side.
Assembly
Whipstitch the gusset strip to the front panel, then to the back panel, easing around the bottom corners. Turn the bag right-side out.
Top Edge
Join yarn at a top corner. Chain 1 and work 1 round of sc evenly around the entire top opening (about 88 sc — keep them even). Join, fasten off, and weave in ends.
Crossbody Strap
Chain 150.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across, chain 1, turn. (149 sc)
Rows 2–3: Sc in each st across, chain 1, turn. (149 sc)
Fasten off. Sew the strap ends firmly to the inside top corners of the bag.
Bow
Loops (make 2): Chain 30.
Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across, chain 3, turn. (28 dc)
Rows 2–5: Dc in each st across, chain 3, turn. (28 dc) Fasten off.
Tails (make 2): Chain 18. Work 3 rows of dc. (16 dc per row) Fasten off, angling one end of each tail.
Center band: Chain 10. Work 5 rows of sc. (9 sc per row) Fasten off.
Pinch the centers of the folded loops and tails together, wrap the center band tightly around, sew securely at the back, and sew the bow to the center front of the bag.
Sophie’s Tips
- The gusset strip is the trickiest part — pin it to the panels before you sew, especially around the bottom corners, and the easing will behave.
- A crossbody strap takes real stress at the joins, so sew each end with a generous 2-inch tab and go over it twice. Strength first, always.
- Dusty rose pairs beautifully with cream or gold accessories, if you’re thinking about a matching wallet or keychain next.
Romantic, practical, and utterly charming — this one’s a keeper!
