# DIY Spiderweb Halloween Wreath Free Crochet Pattern

Orange, black, and purple — the holy trinity of Halloween palettes, right? This spiderweb wreath is one of those projects that looks like it took you a whole week and honestly takes an evening or two. A glowing orange web stretched across the middle, a tiny spider dangling from his own thread, and it’s spooky-cute enough for crocheters of all skill levels.
The base is a simple ring wrapped in black, with the web worked right onto it in bright orange — no scary geometry required, just chains and slip stitches spiraling outward. Then we make one little spider, hang him from a chain thread, and let him dangle over the web. Done!
What You’ll Need
- Worsted-weight yarn in black, orange, and purple
- Size G crochet hook
- 10-inch foam or wire wreath ring
- Two small black safety eyes (or black yarn for eyes)
- Polyester fiberfill (a pinch)
- Tapestry needle
Finished size: Approximately 13 inches across, not including the hanging loop.
The Pattern
Wreath Base
With black yarn, chain 12, SC in second chain from hook and across, chain 1, turn. (11 SC)
Work even rows until the strip wraps your ring snugly (about 32 inches). Fasten off and sew the strip around the ring, overlapping the ends.
The Web
With orange yarn, tie to the top of the ring.
Round 1: Chain 40 (the anchor spokes), then work 8 spokes: slip stitch into the ring at roughly equal intervals, chaining 12 between each spoke. Join to the first spoke with a slip stitch.
Rounds 2-6: Between each pair of spokes, chain 8, slip stitch to the midpoint of the next spoke; on each new round, chain 10 and slip stitch to the midpoint of the previous round’s chain. Continue until the web fills the ring opening.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
The Spider
With black yarn:
Round 1: Magic ring, chain 1, work 6 SC into the ring. Join. (6 SC)
Round 2: Chain 1, 2 SC in each stitch around. Join. (12 SC)
Round 3: Chain 1, SC in each stitch around. Join. (12 SC)
Round 4: Chain 1, SC2tog around. Join, stuff lightly, fasten off and close. (6 SC)
Legs: cut 8 pieces of black yarn about 4 inches long. Fold each in half and knot through the sides of the body — 4 per side. Trim to even lengths and let them splay out.
Add two tiny white circles or safety eyes for the face. With orange yarn, chain 20 for the hanging thread, attach one end to the top of the web and the other to the spider, and let him dangle.
Purple Accent (optional)
With purple yarn, chain 60, then slip stitch back along the chain to make a curly vine. Wrap it around the bottom of the wreath for an extra pop of color.
Sophie’s Tips
- Make the web spokes a little uneven — a perfectly symmetrical web looks less real than a slightly wonky one. Spiders are not perfectionists.
- If the orange yarn is hard to find, a warm gold works beautifully and reads “glowing web” just as well.
- Hang the wreath slightly tilted so the spider dangles freely — that’s the whole charm!
Happy crocheting, and may your Halloween be perfectly creepy!
