# Crochet Poinsettia Doily Free Crochet Pattern

There’s something so satisfying about a doily that actually looks like something, you know? This one blooms right in the middle of your table — a full poinsettia flower worked right into the rounds, with lacy petals radiating outward. I keep mine under a candle on the coffee table all December, and it gets compliments every single time someone visits.
Don’t let the stitch list scare you: it’s just chains, slip stitches, singles, doubles, trebles, front-post doubles, and two decrease variations. If you can work in the round, you can absolutely make this. Take it one round at a time and watch the flower appear!
What You’ll Need
- Worsted weight yarn in white, red, and green (about 100 yards total)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
Finished size: Approximately 12 inches in diameter.
The Pattern
Worked in US crochet terms in joined rounds. Stitches used: ch, sl st, dc, tr, sc, fpdc, dc2tog, fpdc4tog. (fpdc4tog = work a front-post double crochet around each of the next 4 stitches, but work them together as one cluster: yarn over, insert hook around the post, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 — repeat for all 4 posts, then yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on the hook.)
Round 1 (green): Make a magic ring, ch 1, 12 SC into the ring, join with a sl st. (12 SC)
Round 2 (green): Ch 3 (counts as DC), DC in same stitch, 2 DC in each stitch around, join. (24 DC)
Round 3 (red): Join red in any stitch. Ch 4 (counts as DC + ch 1), skip 1 stitch, *(DC, ch 1) in next stitch, skip 1 stitch* — repeat around, join to 3rd chain of beginning ch-4. (12 DC, 12 ch-1 spaces)
Round 4 (red): Sl st into first ch-1 space. Ch 3, 2 DC in same space, *3 DC in next ch-1 space* — repeat around, join. (36 DC)
Round 5 (white): Join white in any stitch. Ch 1, SC in each stitch around, join. (36 SC)
Round 6 (green):
- Join green in any stitch
- Ch 3, *FPDC around next stitch, DC in next 2 stitches* — repeat around, join. (12 FPDC, 24 DC = 36 stitches)
Round 7 (green): Ch 3, DC in each stitch around, join. (36 DC)
Round 8 (red):
- Join red in any stitch
- Ch 3, *DC2tog over next 2 stitches, DC in next stitch* — repeat around, join. (24 stitches)
Round 9 (red petals): Ch 1, *(SC, HDC, DC) in next stitch, (DC, TR, ch 2, TR, DC) in next stitch, (DC, HDC, SC) in next stitch, skip 1 stitch* — repeat around (6 petals), join. The (DC, TR, ch 2, TR, DC) groups form the 6 poinsettia petal tips.

Round 10 (white): Join white in any stitch. Ch 1, SC in each stitch around, working (2 SC, ch 2, 2 SC) in each ch-2 space, join. (84 SC, 6 ch-2 spaces)
Round 11 (red):
- Join red in any stitch
- Ch 3, *DC in next 6 stitches, (2 DC, ch 2, 2 DC) in next ch-2 space, DC in next 8 stitches* — repeat around, join. (108 DC, 6 ch-2 spaces)
Round 12 (green): Join green in any stitch. Ch 1, SC in each stitch around, working (2 SC, ch 2, 2 SC) in each ch-2 space, join. (132 SC, 6 ch-2 spaces)
Round 13 (green edge): Ch 3 (counts as DC), *FPDC4tog around next 4 stitches, ch 3, skip 1 stitch* — repeat around, join to top of beginning ch-3. (33 clusters, 33 ch-3 spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends.
Block lightly with steam to open up the lace and let the doily lie perfectly flat.
Sophie’s Tips
- Count your stitches at the end of Rounds 4 and 8 — those are the rounds where everything else lines up, so catching a mistake there saves a lot of frogging.
- The fpdc4tog cluster in the last round looks fancy but it’s just four front-post stitches finished together. Go slow the first time and you’ll have it.
- Make it in all white or cream and it works for winter all season long, not just Christmas!
Set it under something pretty and let your table bloom!
