Terracotta Boho Flower Bag Free Crochet Pattern

Terracotta boho flower bag

# Terracotta Boho Flower Bag Free Crochet Pattern

Boho soul in terracotta. This shoulder bag has the warm earthy glow of terracotta clay, scattered with crocheted flower appliqués and finished with a long braided strap — it’s the bag I grab for farmers’ markets, outdoor concerts, and anywhere the vibe is relaxed. It goes with denim, it goes with dresses, it goes with everything.

Simple double crochet body, quick flower appliqués, and a braided strap that’s stronger than it looks. Weekend project, everyday bag.

The Pattern

Bag Body

With terracotta, Ch 37.

Row 1: DC in the 4th chain from the hook and in each chain across, Ch 2, turn. (35 DC)

Rows 2–24: DC in each stitch across, Ch 2, turn. (35 DC)

Fold in half and slip stitch the side seams. Turn right-side out.

Top edging: Join terracotta at any top edge. Work 2 rounds of SC evenly around the top opening (about 64 SC per round). Fasten off.

Braided Strap

Cut 9 strands of terracotta yarn, each 70 inches long. Knot together at one end, braid tightly, and knot the other end. Sew each knotted end securely to the inside top corners of the bag.

Flowers (make 7–9)

With cream, make a magic ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, 10 SC into the ring, join. (10 SC)

Round 2: *Ch 3, work 2 DC in the same stitch, Ch 3, slip stitch in the next stitch,* repeat around for 5 petals. Fasten off.

With mustard, make a tiny center: Ch 1, 6 SC into a magic ring, join, fasten off, and sew to the flower center.

Sew the flowers scattered over the front of the bag. Weave in all ends.

Sophie’s Tips

  • Braid the strap TIGHT — a loose braid stretches and the bag will hang too low.
  • Sew the strap ends inside with a big reinforced square of stitching; braids are heavy.
  • Mix cream and mustard flowers randomly for that effortless boho scatter.

Free spirit approved — this bag goes everywhere!
