# Daisy Garden Tote Free Crochet Pattern
Cheerful daisies on a sturdy natural tote — this is my farmers’ market bag, my library bag, and my “I need to look put-together but I’m running late” bag. The tote itself is simple single crochet (strong enough for real groceries), and the daisies are quick appliqués scattered over the front.
It takes an afternoon for the bag and an evening for the daisies, and you’ll use it every single day. I know I do.

Natural ecru cotton for the bag — sturdy and classic — with white and yellow daisies that just pop against it.
What You’ll Need
- Worsted-weight cotton yarn in natural ecru (approx. 500 yards)
- Small amounts of white and yellow yarn for the daisies
- Size H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
Finished size:
- Approximately 14 inches wide and 13 inches tall, not including handles

The Pattern
Tote Body
Ch 46.
Row 1: SC in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across, Ch 1, turn. (45 SC)
Rows 2–40: SC in each stitch across, Ch 1, turn. (45 SC)
Fold in half and slip stitch the side seams. Turn right-side out.
Base: The folded bottom is sturdy as-is, but for extra strength, work 1 round of SC through both layers along the bottom fold.
Top edging: Join ecru at any top edge. Work 3 rounds of SC evenly around the top opening (about 84 SC per round). Fasten off.
Handles (make 2)
With ecru, Ch 8. Work 65 rows of SC across 7 stitches. Fasten off with long tails. Sew each handle to the top edge, 3.5 inches from each side, with reinforced square-and-X stitching.
Daisies (make 10–12)
With yellow, make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 8 SC into the ring, join. (8 SC) Fasten off.
Join white in any stitch.
Round 2: *Ch 3, work 2 DC in the same stitch, Ch 3, slip stitch in the next stitch,* repeat around for 8 petals. Fasten off with a tail.
Sew the daisies scattered over the front of the tote (and a few on the back if you like). Weave in all ends.
Sophie’s Tips
- Single crochet makes the densest, strongest tote fabric — it won’t stretch out under groceries.
- Scatter the daisies asymmetrically; a perfect grid looks stiff.
- Reinforce each daisy center with an extra stitch — tote bags live rough lives.
Fresh as a daisy — carry a little garden everywhere!
