# Pink Sparkle Starfish Swaddle Free Crochet Pattern
A starfish swaddle in sparkly pink — the cutest photo prop AND a cozy blanket! Shaped like a five-pointed starfish, it’s the perfect wrap for newborn photos and tummy time. The subtle sparkle yarn catches the light beautifully, and the shape is just pure fun.
It’s worked as five tapered points joined in the center — simple shaping, big payoff. Babies look adorable in it, and it doubles as a play mat when they’re bigger.

Sparkly pink — the subtle shimmer makes it magical. Soft acrylic so it’s gentle on newborn skin.

The Pattern
Starfish Points (make 5)
Ch 8.
Row 1: SC in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across, Ch 1, turn. (7 SC)
Row 2: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in each stitch to the last, 2 SC in the last stitch, Ch 1, turn. (9 SC)
Rows 3–10: Repeat Row 2 eight more times. (25 SC after Row 10)
Rows 11–14: SC in each stitch across, Ch 1, turn. (25 SC)
Fasten off.
Joining
Arrange the 5 points in a star shape, overlapping the wide ends. Slip stitch them together at the center, working through both layers. The wide ends should overlap to form a solid center.
Center circle: Join yarn at the center. Work 2 rounds of SC around the joined area, picking up stitches from all 5 points (about 40 SC per round). This secures the join and creates a cozy center pocket.
Edging
Join yarn at any outer point tip. Work 1 round of SC evenly around the entire starfish edge. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
Sophie’s Tips
- The points should overlap generously at the center — at least 3 inches of overlap for a solid middle.
- For a bigger starfish, add more increase rows to each point.
- Sparkle yarn can be scratchy; choose a soft one or line the center with a soft fabric.
