# Ocean Blue Coastal Baby Outfit Free Crochet Pattern

Two pieces are better than one, especially when they are this sweet together. This little coastal set pairs a wave-stitch sleeveless top with matching drawstring pants in ocean blue with soft light-blue stripes. It looks like something a baby would wear to watch the waves — relaxed, breezy, and completely adorable.

Both pieces are worked top-down or in simple rounds, so there is almost no seaming. The wave stitch sounds fancy but it is just double crochet with a little rhythm: two decreases make the valley, two increases make the peak, and the waves roll out on their own. If you can count to twelve, you can crochet waves.

Leg 2: Join ocean blue to the first unworked st of Rnd 10. Ch 3, dc in each of the remaining 31 sts. Join. Work 8 rounds of dc, then 2 rounds of sc for the cuff. Fasten off.

Sew the small gap at the crotch closed with a tapestry needle.

Sophie’s Tips

  • The wave pattern is easiest to read after two rounds — if round 6 looks wobbly, trust the process and check again after round 8.
  • Try the pants waistband over a diaper before you finish the legs; the drawstring gives you wiggle room, but the rise needs to clear the diaper.
  • This set is wonderful in any two-tone combo — try sage and cream for a woodland version or coral and peach for a warm-weather one.
